Position Description

Technical Know How
  • Meet all sales goals as established.  Maintain a disciplined approach to proactive sales and renewal processes.
  • Identify and act upon opportunities to promote BCU products and services to be both favorable to the member and organization.
  • Maintain business member relationships by making contact on a regular basis which inclues but is not limited to telephone, email, visiting the member's place of business.
  • Build relationships with existing members, networks with external business organizations and individuals to generate referrals.
  • Actively promote the credit union in the community, solicit new business opportunities through personal contact, cold calling, report analysis and follow-up on referrals from other staff.
  • Identify and make quality referrals for estate planning, insurance sales, advanced investment opportunities and wealth management.
  • Interview members and potential members, gather information, determine needs and conduct an investigation on credit worthiness.  Open new business accounts and grant small business loans within established limits.
  • Engage the sales team when identifying potential referral opportunities.
  • Take an advice approach to ensure the needs of the members are met while ensuring the best interest of the credit union is also achieved.
  • Conduct member interviews o understand credit needs, analyze and assess credit worthiness, complete applications and related documents for new small business loans, renewals, payment extensions, and substitutions of security.
  • Ensure profitability of loan through application of loan rates, service charges and overdue interest; conduct interviews, cross-sell and upsell creditor insurance products with every new or renewal application.
  • Establish, develop and maintainregular member contact by providing valuable timely and proactive advice and recommendations.
  • Provide individualized financial counselling, such as debt consolidation, and information to members on business loan services and deposit products offered.  Use financial knowledge to effectively position products and services.
  • Review and analyze delinquent accounts and initiate collection action; follow-up on overdrawn accounts and maintaina systematic collection procedure; docment actions and follow-up. 
 



Qualifications Required

MUST HAVE skills and abilities
  • One year post-secondary education combined with two to four years of job-related/industry experience.
  • Comfort and ability to work with a high level of detail/accuracy.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • A combination of post-secondary education and work experience will be considered.
  • Comfort in working within a high member engagement role.
  • Previous business banking experience an asset.
